Threads of Humanity
Through these images, I want to celebrate the color spectrum of humanity as a whole. Our diversity makes a more beautiful composition! I string strands of fine white thread on a frame and paint the strands with acrylic paint in diverse skin tones using the Pantone SkinTone Guide as a reference. Then, I photograph the framed thread with the camera on a motorized rail system (which creates a linear design). This technique allows me to move the camera millimeters at a time and photograph the thread in many positions. I use the camera's multiple exposure function to "weave" a tapestry of inclusivity by building complex layers of tones. I used an in-camera multiple exposure of 15 to 30 exposures for these images.
